A thread on the character Pragati from TVF's Aspirants 🧵

After watching the series I realised Pragati is such a well-written character and that we could learn some things from her!

1. Pragati in Episode 2: is against Abhilash's plan to get back his fees from the coaching centre by lying that his mother has Alzheimer's and needs to go back home.

She argues that's what Abhilash is doing isn't what an IAS would do and that he isn't serious about UPSC.
(2/14)
Abhilash tries to explain how hardworking and serious he is and in the end, she says "It's not about hard work; it is a high principled job".

Clearly, Pragati understands what it means to become an IAS and Abhilash does not.

2. In Episode 3: Pragati states that India has a rich cultural heritage and to that Abhilash argues how is that possible when India is full of gender discrimination.

Pragati rightly replies that women are discriminated against in the whole world not just in India.
(4/14)
She tries to point out what Abhilash said doesn't take away from her point about India's culture but Abhilash is not willing to hear any of her arguments.

After this, she rightly points out that Abhilash is too negative and from here Abhilash's journey of change begins!

3. Pragati and Guri: We see that Pragati is always angry at Guri for not picking up her calls or not being on time, this might be because Guri isn't the most punctual or...
(6/14)
Another reason for Pragati's behaviour might just be due to a trope where girlfriends are portrayed aways angry when the boyfriend doesn't pick up a call. Lol
(7/14)
4. In Episode 4: we get to know Pragati clears PCS and ignores Guri.

Ignoring Guri wasn't very mature of her but she knows 'Rajendra Nagar's relationships' stay there.

She came there to clear UPSC or PCS and she knew that was more important to her.
(8/14)
She cleared PCS and got satisfied with that. Instead of spending more time trying to become an IAS, she opted for a route that is guaranteed for her.
(9/14)
At the time when she cleared PCS, she was only allowed 4 attempts at UPSC and she not relying on luck ruling her fate chose to further her career after clearing PCS, unlike Abhilash who needed more than 4 attempts which were not possible back then.
(10/14)
5. Key takeaways from her:

1) Stay focused on your goals, do not get distracted and remember what you are working towards.

2) Be open-minded. Take in different viewpoints and analyse them yourself, only taking in one side of the story does not paint the whole picture.
(11/14)
3) Be ethical! Stay true to yourself and your principles.

4) Be mature in your relationships. ( don't ignore people as she did lol)

5) Take control of your luck! Don't let luck rule your fate.

(12/14)
TVF's Aspirants was a great show and hope we can all learn some things from this character who had a limited role in the show but made the most out of it!
