This has been going on for over 70 years. It's not a passing issue that will go away nor is it a trend. Telling people to only focus on it entirely right now indicates that yall think that this issue will be resolved in a couple days and we can go back to our regularly schedule+ https://twitter.com/hourlyjoon/status/1391830158492020736
But that's not how it works. We can go about our day, sharing our interests, voting and trending whatever while actively spreading awareness and being activists in our day-to-day in the ways we can, both online and offline.
Advocating for a cause isn't a temporary burst of hashtags and tweets, it's embedded into your daily life, into your philosophy and the way you actively go about the world. It's about small instances of resistance that seep into those around you and result in larger change.
This applies to every movement and every cause, not just the Palestinian cause, and I'm telling you as a Palestinian that had we simply fought and cried all these decades without resting and laughing and living however we can, we wouldn't have stood strong this long.
Putting all your energy into policing everyone else's advocacy so that it fits in line what you perceive it to be best does more harm than good and its putting energy in the wrong place. Live and let live.
The Palestinian cause is important today, yesterday, tomorrow and every day henceforth. It always will be, so let's not trivialize it by putting it on equal ground w kpop voting or whatever. They're not mutually exclusive.
I wanna make it clear this thread is not a green light to attack OP, I'm just explaining how that outlook may be harmful and to see how else things can play out.
