Soon after moving to Bucks County PA in 2002, I noticed this 1996 campaign bumper sticker on a utility box attach to a traffic light I frequently drove by. in 2002 it hardly showed any sign of wear. I thought, Dang, the Dole campaign put out some quality stickers back in ´96! 1/
2/ Which is funny, since the Dole campaign was strapped for cash as it limped toward Election Day 96. But by the time I first saw it, this sticker had lasted 6 cold/wet winters & 6 hot/humid summers without fading or peeling. So the Dole campaign did SOMETHING right!
3/ I took this photo of it recently. The sticker is now a bit cracked and peeled, but it’s still there. I always liked seeing it. It would remind me of a gentler political environment, of course, but also remind me of resilience, and making things that last.
4/ It’s one of many things I’ll miss about Bucks County. A great place to live. I was lucky to have 19 years there. But it’s time to go. #byebyebuckscounty #BucksCounty #movingon #grateful #onwardandupward //end thread//
