A thread on how established academics and institutions can support Myanmar students and scholars. 1/
Offer free and accredited online courses for Myanmar students, such as what @ParamiUni is doing. They will be running a range of 8-week summer school modules for Myanmar folks throug June & July, such as Human Rights, Ethnicity and Belonging in Myanmar, and Social Psychology. 2/
There are about 1 million Myanmar students in institutes of higher education across the country whose education has been severely disrupted, not to mention millions more graduating high school students who were hoping to take their uni matriculation examinations this year. 3/
Consider offering more substantial scholarships for Myanmar students enrolling into overseas universities, or setting aside visiting fellowship or short-term research programmes for Myanmar scholars who may need to leave the country on short notice. 4/

Arts organisations and centres should consider prioritizing applicants from Myanmar and other threatened communities for in-person residencies, and supporting them with their visa process. 7/
COVID-19 has been holding many Myanmar folks hostage as they try to navigate a difficult, complex, and constantly shifting set of bureaucratic hurdles that may require documents they do not have access to. Some in-person residencies include... 8/
