It baffles me that paying people enough money to live is controversial.
Like why don't you want people to be able to live, and eat, and go to school, and be healthy? like I am not understanding why this is the energy people choose to put out into the universe.
It's weird to think that there are people who consider withholding stability from someone else as a flex.

It's not a flex. It's dangerous. And honestly, evil.
"I don't have to pay them a fair wage, but I could."

*now cue evil laughter because you're a damn supervillain*

Why would you create a situation where people become desperate? where people become hungry? where people become homeless? where people become needy? WHY?
Withholding stability from someone else without feeling remorse is actually sociopathic. You need help. You need a therapist.

And you need to be removed of any and all power over people because you are harming them... and enjoying it.
This entire thread honestly came from me remembering the 2008 financial crisis.

Imagine scamming millions people out of good jobs, schools, healthcare benefits, homes, and then going back to your mansion and feeling no remorse because you feel you "deserve" it. That's evil.
I NEED A PODCAST lol or a diary, who knows really?
lol I'm a young economist who understands capitalism mostly why are people mansplaining it in the comments/quote tweets.
Someone said minimum wage jobs aren't what you live on, they are entry level.

But.. if the company won't promote you because of [discrimination] despite you being there for x amount of years, then minimum wage jobs are what you're relegated to.

That's a bad take, bro.
"Minimum wage jobs are entry level, you're *choosing* to stay here" is such a bad take because it ignores how institutions play a role in suppressing talent because of what they perceive to be productive.

Mediocre Chad gets a promotion over Lisa because you know him from a golf.
The whole pipeline is garbage:

You not getting into the "right" school from K-12 ⬇️ your chances of getting into the "right" college which ⬇️ your chances of getting connected to the "right" people which ⬇️ your chances of getting the "right" job.

In other words, privilege.
Not to mention that if you've been taught that Black people are lazy and unproductive, and then you're put in charge of everything, you will for sure act on those priors and keep Black people as low as possible for as long as possible cc @drlisadcook. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/18/business/racism-impoverishes-the-whole-economy.html
At the end of the day, how are you going to call workers essential and then treat them like they're disposable?

Something ain't adding up. #RaiseTheWage
I am on Tik Tok and this seems relevant considering the thread. https://twitter.com/itsafronomics/status/1391791684741210116?s=20
"Asking businesses to give money to poor people is like asking poor people to make more money." Who said that?

lol y'all be saying ANYTHING on here. One has power, influence, and resources and the other doesn't. Try again though. #YouTriedIt
