Random #STLCards stats that I find interesting so far in the 2021 season. A thread, first looking at batters who have seen at least 100 pitches:
1) Dylan Carlson, Paul DeJong, and Matt Carpenter have the best results vs. 4-seam fastballs with respective wOBAs of .377, .347, and .346. However,

2) Austin Dean, Yadier Molina, Tommy Edman, and DeJong are the only 4 #STLCards to see 33.9% or more 4-seamers (w/32.5% next most)
3) Tyler O'Neill, Andrew Knizner, Nolan Arenado, and Paul Goldschmidt (26.9% or more) see the most 2-seamer/sinkers and cutters (bendy fastballs). The team as a whole is crushing them, but especially Harrison Bader, Yadi, and Arenado (all .480-.575 wOBAs!!!).
4) Harrison Bader so far has seen a ridiculous amount of sliders (37.7%) and is CRUSHING them to the tune of a .393 wOBA. Goldy's seen 27.1% and Yadi's the only other above 25%. Their wOBAs on sliders barely add up to more than Bader's. O'Neill and Edman have also hit them well.
5) How's that for a surprise above? Bader and O'Neill have hit the sliders as well as anyone this year? WTF?

6) "Slower shit" (SF, CH, KN, Forkball, Eephus, Screwball) - nearly all of which are change ups - are being crushed by Dean, Arenado, and Molina especially (.669+ wOBAs).
7) Carlson is also hitting "slower shit" well - .414 wOBA - and has seen the most of it on the team at 19.8%. At 17.8% Edman - who hasn't hit it well - is the only other above 15.5% on the club.

8) Matt Carpenter is quite easily seeing the most curveballs on the squad this year.
8) (continued) Carp's at 15.9% while nobody else is above 12%. Carpenter has struggled on curves, as have Justin Williams and Dylan Carlson, which is why they've been thrown the second and third most. O'Neill's seen his fair share but has hit them alright.
9) Another interesting curveball note: Harrison Bader has crushed them so far this year as well. He's not been the best on them, though. Yadi has only had 5 PA end on a curveball. He has one walk, two singles, and two doubles on those pitches!

Done for now. #STLFLY
