I really want to make this a thread to promote awareness and educate others about topics that I’m passionate about, as well as topics that do not get discussed enough or just get brushed under the rug, so hopefully this can help some people who com across it
I want to start with issues about mental health/ suicide prevention. Society fails too many people because of lack of education in this area. https://twitter.com/oldghostown/status/1037882807392067584?s=21
Here is another card about mental health awareness in general and resources that can help people who are struggling https://mentalhealthhelpsite.carrd.co/
Moving on to a thread about what is going on is Columbia and Palestine right now. There is some graphic information in here so warning but it is important that we read this and understand this in order for the people who live there to receive the help they need https://twitter.com/jungkooflwr/status/1390835244509667328
Here is one more thread speaking on the current events in Columbia and how much the people are being affected right now as well as places to donate https://twitter.com/iovelvjy/status/1389771246204768259
Next I want to link this wonderful resource I found for autism. I could talk about how bigoted the world is against those with disabilities and how we life in an ableist society for hours, but for now I will just link this. https://autistic-edu.carrd.co/
I am struggling to find a simple thread to explain all disabilities, however this one does a really amazing job summing up mental illnesses/disabilities and things anyone can do to be more mindful https://twitter.com/persuasivehabit/status/1356714085694533643
Moving from that, I want to offer a LGBTQ resource because this is another subject that is very dear to my heart for many reasons https://helpinglgbt.carrd.co/
That resource really does offer a lot of information as well as petitions that anyone can sign to help the LGBTQ community.
BLM is not a trend, it should not end because people are lazy or forgetting about it. BLM is an ongoing movement, and please do not stay silent. Sign petitions, research news articles, raise awareness, and please do what you can. https://blacklivesmatters.carrd.co/
There was a large increase in attacks against Asian people pretty much since the start of covid-19. It really is sick to see people true selves coming out over the past 4-5 years, and we really have been able to see who people- https://anti-asianviolenceresources.carrd.co
truly are. And it’s really sad that a fucking pandemic, where you would think people would want to go back to normal, turned into an issue of “I wanna go party”, please stfu, too many people to count have died.
and not just from the pandemic, but people have been dying every single day from multiple injustices.
And our former President really didn’t do shit to stop it. He endorsed people who have outwardly been racist, antisemitic, ableist etc. he defended white nationalists, and is a nasty human being.
Scary to think that a man like him was even in power in the first place, and it scares me every day to think about what could have happened if he stayed, and also it scares me now to think of the people he left behind.
anyway, I seriously recommend taking the time to read all of these and get informed about what’s going on in the world. Believe me I know it can be overwhelming but even just educating yourself and others or signing a petition can make such a difference
Also please take one thing from this thread if you are gonna take anything: CARRDS SHOULD NOT BE USED AS YOUR ONLY EDUCATION SOURCE. Carrds in this thread are used in order for you to continue educating yourself by reading books, watching documentaries, listening to others who
experience these different issues, and search up resources for yourself. Please don’t take these carrds and think they can be used as your sole form of education. They are just a basis in order to help kick start you understanding these issues.
