So, I decided to reread The Song of Roland (my high school self wouldn& #39;t believe how willing and excited I am to go over French epics, but sometimes VnC and Rolivier hit hard). While looking for some internet commentary, I came across the SoR TV Tropes Wiki with its gems.
Here are my top picks:
Will Archbishop Turpin make an appearance in the series

Off topic, but I& #39;d love to see captain Nemo (from & #39;20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea& #39;) in VnC. I mean, we already have dr Moreau, so the XIX century science fiction vibes are already there.

I went straight to Olivier& #39;s death scene, and Roland faints not once, but TWICE while his friend is dying. Not sure about the first one, but the second time it happens, he& #39;s on his horse and... he doesn& #39;t fall down? What& #39;s wrong with falling to the ground?
No doubt this is coming, I& #39;m just trying to mentally prepare myself for it.
Summing up! It& #39;s hard to tell how much Mochizuki-sensei is going to draw from the texts involving Roland. For instance, Gano may be Ganelon& #39;s counterpart - both are traitors who disliked Roland.
