There were not many Places Where FDR Faltered in his four historic wins, and while he carried New Jersey, this state showed its historical republican tilt even as it voted for the 32nd President
His four elections are interesting because they showcase the tail end of a realignment which resulted in the more Working class south Voting democratic and the North(more upscale than the south) voting Republican.
This can be seen in the lean Relative to the State of two counties Bergen and Camden. The former (Bergen)was R+7 relative to the state in 1932, and a whopping R+32 by 1944, the Latter (Camden) was R+8 in 1932 and D+32 in 1944.
To a degree this is how New Jersey voted for most of the 20th Century, with Predominantly Suburban Bergen County Last voting for a Republican in 1992, coincidentally the last time NJ was more Republican than the Nation.
However FDR's elections played the groundwork for the Coalitions that Dominated NJ for half a century, only changing Now with the suburban and working class trends
