Very funny to me how Australia has hopping mice which not marsupials like the iconic hopping Australian mammals but just a rogue rodent group that also got there.
These guys really wanted to throw a spanner in the works by just showing up there and independently evolving hopping

Australia also has rat kangaroos which are marsupials but kangaroo rats who live in America are not marsupials and yet again a type of rodent

It’s really fucked up how small mammals all just become the same thing you have jerboas and kultarr and hopping mice and kangaroo rats it’s all just the same thing!

Jerboas and hopping mice are close relatives probably shouldn’t have put hopping mice in but kultarr are marsupials and kangaroo rats are a different type of rodent still

Don’t let them fool you into thinking there’s more than just funny rats they’re all funny rats
