on saturday may 8th, girls at the Sayeed-ul-Shuhada school in Afghanistan were attacked as they were leaving their classes that afternoon. the 3 explosions that took place near the school k!lled around 68 girls and injured more than 150. (1/6)
the girls who were affected were about 11-20 years old. the school was located in Dasht-e Barchi, Kabul and the explosions occurred in a predominantly minority shiite hazara neighborhood. this area has already been facing deadly attacks for the past few months. (2/6)
eyewitnesses state that the first explosion was caused by a minivan that was located outside the school. about 10 minutes later, those who rushed to the scene to help the wounded were injured by two more IEDs (improvised explosion devices). (3/6)
after the bombing, hazaras in the area attacked police officers and prohibited security forces from entering the scene. this is due to their criticism towards President Ghani’s government and their inability to protect this minority group. (4/6)
as of right now, no specific group has taken responsibility for the crime. there have been a handful of accusations but there is no sign of confession.
at the end of this thread, i will post a link where you can donate to the victims of the explosions and their families. (5/6)
