Two Days that shocked Nigerians.

Yaradua successor GEJ.....
The vacuum, power play & the Intrigues.

On Monday November 2009, President Yaradua was flown to Jeda Saudi Arabia for treatment for a medical condition constructive pericarditis...(disease of the fibrous sac covering the heart).
That was the last day he was seen in the public.

This created a power vacuum that nearly destroy the country.
The nation was on a standstill as the ministers don't know who to report to.

The NBA argue that president shld ve transmitted letter while many Nigerians like PMB called on NASS 2 declare him incapacitated.
Protest across Abuja & Lagos by Save Nigeria group lead by Late Odumankin, Soyinka and Tunde Bakare.... calling on elevating GEJ as acting president.

The heat was getting hotter as Idris Kutigi has days to his compulsory retirement due to age ... meanwhile the NJC already nominated Kastina Aluu to takeover as CJN with no one to swear him in.

Adoke, the minister for justice approach GEJ to swear in Katsina however GEJ refuse..this lead to NJC to opt for CJN Kutigi to swear in the incoming CJN.
The first and only time this ever happen...big relieve to The Cabal.

The minister for Information Dora Akuyili said the NASS should invoke section 114 of the constitution however few other especially Minister of Education Sam Egwu disagreed saying it will be unfair.

On January 15th an activist Adamu Faruk approach the Supreme court that Yaradua should be declare incapacitated... unanimously the court gave FEC 14days to decide

Senator president David Mark was at impasse with PDP.
They were rumours that Yaradua had already died since December & the government were run by faceless cabal.
Panic everywhere as people feared that the military could cash in.
Mark then invoke the doctrine of necessity

On Tuesday February 9th 2010 the joint assembly elevated GEJ as the acting President and C in C.
This angered the cabal...they didn't hide it as to immediately planned to approach the court....
In honesty the Cabal this time were right..as joint assembly acted unconstitutionally.

Unknown to the minister of justice that GEJ had wind of their plans to approach the court and their likelihood to win, he quickly shocked everyone in the FEC meeting when he refused to sit on VP's seat rather Yaradua...next he did was a minor cabinet reshuffle..

... Adoke was sent to special duties while Adetokumbo became minister of justice from Labor.

Everyone got the message as many of the ministers gravitated towards GEJ.
The cabal did not back off with a fight.
On 24th Feb, barely 14days of GEJ leadership, they sneaked in Yaradua midnight.
Chaos & confusion but GEJ was unruffled however was denied access to see his boss.

To make the matter worse, the media aid Shegun Adeniyi addressed acting President as the VP...same day GEJ aide immediately countered that.
Confusion as who is really incharge.
They were fears that the GEJ security detail may snip him instead to protect him

A week Later His boss the president Died.
He was the second person to die in office as president after Gen. Abacha
