Had some basic previous programming experience (if statements, data types etc…) but had never done anything with iOS or Swift before. Completed most of the @yu_angela Udemy course which took about 70 days and then decided it was time to work on my first app.
Struggled a bit with the transition from structured tutorials to developing something myself but a tip from Dave to use Trello helped out. Essentially organized tasks into a giant structured to-do list with Trello and just worked on a couple steps at a time.
Was very consistent and completed some work on the app every day. Took just under 2 months and about 160 hours from start to publication. Might not work for everyone but keeping the streak going is important for me.
Throughout the development process kept the idea of a minimum viable product in mind and added multiple feature ideas to a second to-do list for consideration in future versions instead of trying to add now.
The usual Stack Overflow/Hacking With Swift/Google were all great resources and helped me get through the major bugs I ran into. Also if I was up against a wall for 5+ hours on something looking into different ways to meet my intended functionality was useful.
Next, I plan on going back and reviewing the important base concepts for iOS Development through the Hacking With Swift for UIKit course and either building an app that incorporates networking or adding some API calls to my current app.
Still learning but if I can be of any assistance please reach out!
