For months, we've been talking about the historic American Rescue Plan and how it was was putting billions of dollars into broadband.

...

Hilarious story... today, the Biden Administration said if you already have a cable network in your town ...
...Then you don't need better broadband!

If you live in an area where there is no provider (there aren't many of you, but there are some), then the federal government can pay for building a great, high-quality network. This is good - only smart investments ...
... but for like 95 percent of us that live in places that already have an option and we thought our local governments could use some of those federal dollars to fix a market that has been broken for decades ...

NOPE! ....
This is pretty bad. Our cities that have cable monopolies ALSO need to recover. They need great Internet access to be resilient for future disasters.

The Biden Administration is talking about competition and co-ops and stuff. After this, I don't know what to believe...
The rules today from Treasury are straight up written to protect cable monopolies.
