gonna have a bit of a copycat moment, but let's do a game! for every like on this tweet, i'll drop some trivia about my bang fic :]

the title of the fic "take care of business," as well as the individual chapter titles, are from nina simone's song, which features as the closing theme of the man from uncle!

i actually considered having jet be the illya stand-in at first instead of vespa, but ultimately decided against it because i thought she would fit better (and also because lesbianism), and i wanted to explore the development of her and juno's relationship that we see in wlb!

there's a deleted scene i half-wrote before deciding to cut it that follows the illya and gaby drunk dance-wrestling scene from the movie. but with juno and nureyev... which i may or may not end up finishing as a one shot and posting

i already posted about how i WILDLY underestimated my word count when first planning this, but i ALSO went through a lot of changes with the pacing-- the fic was originally supposed to end in four chapters, with some events combined into one, but that did not end up happening ^^'

there were three soundtracks that consistently got me through this fic: the don bluth thumbelina soundtrack, the man from uncle ost, and the chess in concert cast recording. the thumbelina is my go-to writing soundtrack for anything ever! it works wonders, really

easter eggs: there is always one direct tie-in line within the dialogue or narration to the chapter's title! i think it's most obvious at the end of the epilogue, but i had a lot of fun finding ways to integrate the lyrics naturally into the fic!

i almost didn't end up writing this fic for the bang! my first idea was a short script-style, "secret rita minute" fic that explored what exactly happened when buddy and rita went out for ice cream :) i still have the wip, and i might still post it sometime in the future!

something i love to do is have our resident alcoholic buddy make numerous cocktail jokes; the one i had planned for her i sadly had to cut, but i still think it's pretty witty of me (a cosmo is typically made with vodka, triple sec, lime, and cranberry juice!)

two scenes i added post beta that i'm pretty proud of are the moments with the ring-- nureyev giving them to juno, and then juno to vespa. sj suggested it, and i love how it adds a level of longing to the jupeter bits and mutual understanding to the juno vespa ones :')

everybody knows that i relate a lot to buddy, but i gave nureyev one of my jeannetteisms is in chapter four: when i go swimming, i don't take off my glasses, so when i go underwater i have to hold them so they don't fall off, so i made him do the same (:

yes, that was a dick joke in chapter three.

jet barely shows up in this fic but GOD i love writing his and buddy's little banter, the bit in the epilogue with the golf joke was so self indulgent but i don't even care LOL
a lot of the jokes in here were kind of Made For Me so it means a lot that people think it's funny :'D

IM RUNNING OUT OF TRIVIA okay okay fun fact i hate the word "simper" but i used it twice in this fic, once in a vespa narration talking about how she hated it too and once for the fresh starts guy

speaking of the fresh starts guy i literally couldn't be assed to think of a name for him so i just decided that none of the characters ever bothered learning it KSJDHGK which i think ended up being pretty funny and doesn't just look lazy LOL

i had originally planned on doing my own little illustration of this fic to stick into ao3, of the fountain/steps scene in the second chapter, but ultimately i did not have enough time i might draw something in the future though!

one of my writing quirks is that i always like to start off a chapter with a character's name-- whether that name denotes whose pov it's in, or who the pov character is thinking about, whatever. i just think it's a fun way to make the story cohesive!
