Now the elections are over, here's some history of Welsh LGBTQ+ politicians.

The first LGBTQ mayor of Wales was Jaci Taylor, who became mayor of Aberystwyth in 2000 and is openly lesbian. There was a 'lesbian row' over Jaci Taylor's partner, Felicity Roberts being her mayoress.
The first openly gay Welsh MP was Adam Price in 2001, who later became the first openly gay leader of a political party in the UK as leader of Plaid Cymru.

In May 2016, Hannah Blythyn, Jeremy Miles and Adam Price became the first openly gay MS's (Members of the Senedd).
However, the first out gay AM was Ron Davies, after he was outed without his consent. Ron Davies was leader of Welsh Labour from 1998 and Secretary of State for Wales from 1997, but was outed before the 2003 Senedd elections. He is now openly bisexual.
And of course now the firstly openly Non-Binary and Genderqueer Mayor in Wales is Owen Hurcum, Mayor of Bangor. Llongyfarchiadau! https://twitter.com/OwenJHurcum/status/1391824181696909317
Please add any more note-worthy Welsh LGBTQ+ political people or events to this thread if there are more (and I'm sure there are!)
