It is time for a heartfelt #MaxFunDrive thread from me. This is my real life friend Lizzie. I only know her--and a bunch of other incredible people who make my life better--because of Maximum Fun. I work there now, which me from 7 years ago would think is bonkers. https://twitter.com/LizzieBartelt/status/1391790738296516613">https://twitter.com/LizzieBar...
Maximum Fun is an artist-owned, audience-supported network of podcasts. Every year we hold a fundraising drive, where we ask people who enjoy our shows to opt to become a member. That way, we can continue to keep shows free for all folks, keep ads to a minimum, & pay hosts/staff.
When I first became a member it was because I really liked the idea of this network where hosts owned their stuff and people paid for it because it was good. I loved a few shows on the network, could spare $5 or $10 a month, so it made total sense for me to become a member.
When I upgraded, it wasn& #39;t only because I started listening to more shows. It was because I realized that MaxFun had changed my life in some real, tangible ways. I met some of the BEST people I know through MaxFun events. I had podcasts along with me for big life stuff.
I just googled to find this thing I wrote (truly did not remember having a tumblr!) probably 6 or 7 years ago: https://jessethorn.tumblr.com/post/80999602666/max-fun-drive
It">https://jessethorn.tumblr.com/post/8099... does a better job explaining things than a tweet. It also made me well up thinking about then and now, but that might be because I am tired.

Here& #39;s a tweet I wrote about upgrading my membership right before quitting my job, travelling, & eventually landing in LA with no plan (a MaxFun friend, Alice, let me stay with her in LA).
Looks like in 2015, I upgraded that last post, too: https://staceymolski.tumblr.com/post/114378880911/the-maxfundrive-is-here-if-you-know-me-youve">https://staceymolski.tumblr.com/post/1143...

I also found this tweet which really made me laugh. This has some real & #39;person quitting their job in 2 months vibes.& #39; I had NO IDEA I would be working for MaxFun later that same year. Now I need to wrap up this thread so I can go back to writing tweets for my career at @MaxFunHQ.
So now I live in LA with a partner of nearly 6 years that I never would have met if I didn& #39;t move here on a whim, I work for MaxFun, a former coworker and his wife basically kept us sane through the pandemic, and I still love MaxFun shows and the community built around them.
The moral of my long thread is that if you can afford it, becoming a MaxFun member is an excellent investment. It feels good to pay artists for the joy they provide you. And I bet if you sit and think about it, you& #39;ll find that MaxFun has changed your actual life in some way, too
If you like MaxFun shows, go to http://maximumfun.org/join ">https://maximumfun.org/join"... or http://maximumfun.org/manage .">https://maximumfun.org/manage&qu... Whenever I did that in the past, it proved to be a really good decision.
And THANK YOU to everyone who& #39;s done that so far. You literally pay my rent & put donuts on my table and I& #39;m grateful.
