Juni Taisen thread (remastered)

1. My opinion and all that stuff
2. I may be giving Nisio a bit too much credit for this, but I still think it holds true on some aspects
3. The normal criticism this show have is true and valid but
Now let us start
But before that, I’m gonna leave the MAL summary here in case you haven’t watch it and are interested (this thread gonna have major “spoilers”) or just want to understand more less what I’m writing about: https://myanimelist.net/anime/35076/Juuni_Taisen">https://myanimelist.net/anime/350... (also the gifs are random things for you to see)
I’m gonna answer two main questions here: the first will be why people normally think that this work isn’t something that special (and to be fair, they’re mostly right) and the second question will be why I think this is actually pretty fucking good, so let’s get started:
1. Why do people think that this work is bad/mid? Simple: this show is way too predictable (the orders of death are pretty much layout on the ending) and this being a battle royale, that’s pretty much a death sentence for it. Still, I hope that after reading this thread you’llhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">

2. Why do I think this show is so good?
Before I get into that I need to give some information about some things in order to make my conclusion more understandable
First let’s talk about what happens in the last episode: to put it simple, the last episode is all about the winner of the Juni Taisen (Nezumi) thinking about what to wish (more like discarding ideas).

The second thing is Nezumi’s ability: The Hundred Paths of Nezumi-sanhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">
And the last thing I must mention is the fact that within those 100 different possibilities Nezumi managed to interact with all the participants of the Juni Taisen and most of them told him their backstories and more importantly, their wish in case of winning.
Now that I already give all that information I’m gonna procede and give my theory on why Juni Taisen is really an amazing work (Aikawa Jun moment incoming): everything was made in order to arrive to chapter 12 (of the anime that is).
Now is where the nonsensical part of this thread starts so bare with me ok.
The reason why I think that is because of what I think Nisio was trying to do here (similar to my Pretty Boy thread) is just show us a huge...contradiction? (I can’t remember of the exact word for that)https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="➡️" title="Pfeil nach rechts" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach rechts">but basically is this: every participant of the Juni Taisen had a fairly troublesome life/past up to that point but they all had a wish (the wish representing a goal in life/reason to live) except for Nezumi, which had a fairly common life up to that point, he didn’t had that.
And this is where I think the genius of Juni Taisen comes in. We have all this characters with all these troublesome pasts yet they all wanted something, they all wish something (Nezumi said that every person he asked about their wish was quick to answer) but Nezumi being thehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="➡️" title="Pfeil nach rechts" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach rechts">one with the most “normal past” didn’t want anything, didn’t strife for anything, even if it was something stupid like the boys harem the Boar wanted, Nezumi didn’t even want something as “stupid and insignificant” as that . He was empty, living by inertia and that’s why thehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">

And if you think it like that, if you think that everything was made in order to arrive at this beautiful contradiction it all makes sense. Just as Ibuki Kanami couldn’t make THAT mistake, is also impossible for a genius like NISIOISIN to do something as stupid as putting anhttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">

Why would he do that? Simple: to give all the backgrounds in said order (the inverse zodiac order). That’s the reason why I believe that the battle royale isn’t the main focus here rather the characters were thehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">
On other subjects: the animation is pretty good. It have some (a lot actually) of CGI but is actually pretty decent. The soundtrack is nice, the VAs make a good work and overall, it has a pretty good production so don’t worry in that aspect (tho the pacing can be a bit messy)
And now to conclude I want to say something more personal and part of to why this particular show resonated so much with me: Of course all of what I just say is pure speculation but even if it isn’t I can’t tell for sure everybody will like this. I think that the reason I likehttps://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="⬇️" title="Pfeil nach unten" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach unten">
https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="➡️" title="Pfeil nach rechts" aria-label="Emoji: Pfeil nach rechts">it so much is because (I can’t believe I’m gonna say this) is because I kind of understand what Nezumi felt (yes, I’m comparing myself to an anime character) because me personally I have the same problem.
