I made $400 from a FREE product on the internet.

Then, decided to donate $100 to fight covid-19 in India 🇮🇳

🧵 It was so easy. Here's EXACTLY how you can do it!
Story time. Summary:

1. Wanted to give back to the community.
2. Released a free product that I found valuable
3. People rewarded me with support and a lot of exposure 🔥
4. It's bloody easy. You can do the same.

Note:

I released the @gumroad product when I was at 3k followers.

So it's not like "Yo @aaditsh, I think it's too early or too late to launch a product now"

Just do it.
What’s a Swipe File?

âž” my best-performing tweets
âž” analyzing why they performed well
âž” my swipe file was inspired by @OneJKMolina
How did the idea come about?

Inspired by @OneJKMolina,

I was like: "I definitely need a one-stop database of all my best content."

I knew my best content would help me in future content creation.
How does successful content help for the future?

Well, you know what worked before.

âž” you know what your audience liked
âž” you understand what your audience wants better
âž” now, you give your audience what they want. Simple.
Ok @aaditsh, how do I make one for myself?

I started with a PDF.

HUGE mistake. It looked ugly. The content was A+. But still ugly.

Then I people started paying for it.

I felt like I underdelivered.

Made my first $20 and I thought wow, this is big 🙌
I moved it to @NotionHQ eventually.

If I were to do it again, I would start off with Notion. It’s beautiful.

You can share a notion link as the product or a PDF made through Notion. Both work!
How can you make one for yourself?

1. Find your best tweets. Most likes, most profile clicks, most retweets.

You can use Twitter advanced search to find the best tweets of yours (and others)
It has fields that let you specify the minimum likes/retweets and then show tweets with those specifications.

↓
Ex:

from:aaditsh min_faves:100

This will give you all of my tweets with more than 100 likes.

Twitter analytics can help you with engagement analysis of your tweets.
Imo, anywhere between 3-6% engagement is solid.

Higher than 6% are your TOP TOP tweets.
The HARD part:

2. Now get analyzing!

âž” Did this work because it was a question?
âž” Did it work because of the format?
âž” Why was it relatable?
âž” How did it make people feel this was insightful?

Cover the dots.

What is in it for you?
Here are a couple of things that building a swipe file helps with.

+ Trusted audience
+ Monetary rewards
Building trust

You are giving access to HOW you think about Twitter content.

This "behind-the-scenes" will help build trust with your audience.

So many messages saying "thanks for creating the swipe file"
$$ Your audience will support you

I'll be VERY honest. I forgot about the money aspect. I expected $0.

"FINALLYY I get to release something" was my reaction. I just wanted to ship.

Then a friend dropped $5. I tweeted about it.

Another dropped $10. Another $2. It kept going 🚀
Guys REMEMBER: I was going to make this anyway. For myself.

Imagine just an extra $450 in your pocket.

I decided to donate $100 to fight covid in India.

Hoping all my friends in India and around the world are safe and well.
🙏 Thanks to the people that donated to the swipe file because 1/4 of that has gone to help fight covid in India.

P.S. I'm giving away an All-in-one Twitter manager (worth $35+) to a random person that retweets the first tweet!
This is the All-in-one Twitter manager:
TL;DR

1. Wanted to give back to the community.
2. Released a free product that I found valuable
3. People rewarded me with $400, constant support, followers and a lot of exposure (shoutouts)
4. It's bloody easy. You can do the same.
