Jack says the injury situation has been tough and interesting. Not playing has been the toughest part about it.
He says the injury could still require surgery. He’s just looking to fix the situation, get healthy and be ready for next season.

“It’s definitely a different experience where you’re just watching the game from a far, how things were different and how things ran under Donny. It seems like things are positive, guys are excelling and starting to play better. There’s definitely a positive to that.”
“Ralph was a phenomenal human being, someone I hope to have a relationship with for the rest of my life.”
Jack jokes that the goaltending situation has been interesting. He thought the Michael Houser story was great and there’s positivity to be shown.
“For sure I’d say I’ve been a little upset with the way things have been handled since I’ve been hurt. I’d be lying if I said things have moved smoothly since I’ve been injured. I’d say there’s been a disconnect between the organization and myself at times.”
He adds his focus is on getting healthy and being ready for next year..
“We’ll have to see what happens.”
Eichel says he broke his rib before the season.
“I can look myself in the mirror and say, ‘when you were in the lineup, you weren’t good enough.’”
“I’m frustrated; If you went down the line in the locker room I’m sure everyone’s frustrated.”
“When that happens [the poor season], it forces everyone to consider what you can do better, what the future holds. I think I have a lot of thinking to do this off-season and a lot to consider. For now I’m here and I’m the captain of this hockey team... 1/2
My goal is to be available and to try and help the guys in the room, the organization win hockey games. I’m going to continue to do that as long as I’m here.”
Eichel on Adams:
“We’ve had a few conversations... It’s been tough. I think with my injury there’s been a little bit of disconnect. But yea there’s been a little bit of it [communication].”

Eichel says his camp has been on one side and the team has been on another in regards to his injury treatment and how to go about it.
“There’s been some tough conversations but I’ve got to do what’s best for me. I’m only going to play hockey for so long. I’m 24 years old and only have so many years playing this amazing game.”
“The Buffalo Sabres have to do what’s best for the organization and as a player you have to protect your own interest and what’s best for you.”
“It wasn’t the season anyone wanted to have.... other than maybe Reino.. He had a pretty good year.”
Eichel hints that his contract is what’s keeping him from getting surgery at the moment.
“I’m under contract with this team and they hold a lot of cards on what I can and can’t do.”
