Witcher fact!

The Gryphon School!

Located in the North on the coast of the Dragon Mountains is the Gryphon Keep - called Kaer y Seren. This translates to 'Fortress of the Star'.

This School was known and well-respected for its Witchers that were trained in magic and a combat-
style that emphasised taking on multiple opponents at once; making them effective at clearing out monster nests. Their Signs were more enhanced and the Witchers more attuned to magic, making them better conduits for Chaos than other Schools' recruits were.

The School has since-
become all but lost to time after a tragic avalanche buried it entirely and killed most of the Gryphon Witchers in the process. It was a heavy blow to the Guild, as Kaer y Seren had a prolific and famous library and archives that documented well over a 1,000 years' worth of-
magical studies and advancements.

It has since become suspected that a group of jealous Mages triggered the avalanche in retaliation for the Gryphon School refusing to share its magical literature with anyone but other Witchers (even then, the Gryphons were wary of which-
Schools they would lend their collections to). Ever since, Kaer y Seren has been buried and lost somewhere in the Dragon Mountains, all but erased and forgotten about.

In the novels we only meet one Gryphon School Witcher, called Coën. He wintered at Kaer Morhen with the Wolf-
School and trained Ciri in swordfighting. He dies at the Battle of Brenna as Ciri foresaw, run through with a twin scythe and the last remaining proof of the Gryphon School dies with him.

And that's today's Witcher School fact!
