A Thread on The Whoop App and Why It’s A Game Changer For Performance:

Whoop has been a huge game changer in my recovery game. Basically it’s just a heart rate monitor strap that collects data on your heart rate all day and analyzes this data to gauge the state of your body.
It tracks strain by detecting your workouts, high stress periods, etc to give you an overall look at how much you exerted yourself. It will let you know whether you’ve been restorative, optimal, or overreaching based on your recovery.
It tracks your recovery by taking into account your strain, sleep, and heart rate data like Heart Rate Variability and Resting Heart Rate. This gives you a good baseline on wether or not you’re sleep, training, diet, supplementation, and recovery protocol is working.
It essentially lets you a/b test experiments on your body and see with real time data if it has an impact or not.

This is huge because you can test on your own body whether cold showers, a a new supplement, IF, etc. is working to get the desired effects on your recovery.
For sleep it does a 100% fantastic job of tracking your sleep cycle. This is the main reason I have the app. It is extremely accurate at auto detecting your sleep and capturing the entire sleep cycle.

It tracks sleep efficiency, disruptions, and consistency.
It goes in detail on how much time was spent in each stage of sleep (light, REM, and SWS).

This is so vital in terms of making sure your getting optimal sleep because sleep is really everything in terms of recovery and health.

Sleep = Gains
Sleep = Energy
Sleep = Health
The cherry on top is it will give you a weekly and monthly assessment on your overall performance and show you what you need to improve or sustain.

100% couldn’t recommend more.

Whoop cost $30 a month, but I’d be willing to spend 3-5x that much due to its positive ROI.
There are other very good trackers out there.

A lot of the Bow Tied Jungle Members have had nothing but positive things to say about the Oura ring, that does more or less the same things as above.
