Bidyashagar Singh - A Tactical Profile
Thread
(1/19)
Bidyashagar Singh has emerged as a top option in strike force for many of the ISL clubs next season. The ex East Bengal player is the golden boot winner of last season I League playing for TRAU FC.
(2/19)
In this thread , we look at his traits as a centre forward and also find out the systems in which he can thrive and rise as one of the complete centre forwards in the country. So let's begin
(3/19)
Looking at his numbers, Bidyashagar Singh for TRAU FC in 15 league games this season has
⚽ 12 Goals
🎯 1 Assist
⏰ A goal every 106 minutes

(4/19)
Being a centre forward we will see the movements on the ball his positioning and his off the ball movements. He's also comfortable in the wings.
(5/19)
▫️His positioning as a striker is something we should see here.He positions himself short of the defensive line. He plays less of the shoulder of the defender and makes runs through the middle and blind side of the defenders.
(6/19)
On the course of play he stays around the box and places where he could anticipate the second ball or a deflection including some of the far post runs.

(7/19)
▫️On the ball

One of the desirable trait of a CF is the way he links the play in between the lines and in half spaces. He drops deep to build the play at numerous occasions. This helps in many ways.

(8/19)
In one way this dropping down creates an extra passing option in the midfield. When a striker drops the person marking him also drops with the striker which creates a space for the other attacking players to exploit.

(9/19)
He's quick and has good ball control which helps during counters and during a run in between the defenders or a blind side run for a through ball. See his movement here
(10/19)
His linkup with Tursunov is key in the system of TRAU. Both players can pull defenders to them which create spaces which both of them exploits
(11/19)
▫️Off the ball

Bidya has a good arsenal here. He is really good at decoy runs and drifts to wide positions. This helps the other attackers. And also helps his companion Tursunov to hold zones at which he can shoot or assist Bidya

(12/19)
As an attacker you're responsible for the first line of pressing. A good centre forward should be able to dictate this first line of press. TRAU is not a team that press much higher . But when required he has been good at dictating the press

(13/19)
He has no hesitation to work and to close down his opponents

(14/19)
With his strike partner Tursunov he has formed a good relationship. They constantly interchange their positions and also leads the first wave of press.

(15/19)
Bidyashagar would be a great addition to a team which playes possession based football. His link up play at centre forward is a quality which fits such systems. With his pace he will also do well with a team which plays quick counter attacking football.
(16/19)
Though he has good holding and control he is unlikely to be a lone striker or a target man. He will excel when playing of the shoulder of an Attacking midfielder or a second striker.
(17/19)
Next season if he signs for an ISL club we should give him time to adapt and let him build on his traits and confidence . We do have exciting times ahead watching a prospect reaching his potential and taking ISL by storm.
