Every day on this site, it's lists and bundles and collections of books that are being called inclusive and for every child.

Usually with no positive disability books! Your lists are all abled!

I'm almost a year in and still being asked why I write what I do.

It's exhausting.
I hate harping on about this. Every time I do, the old guard of the industry rolls their eyes & I alienate myself even more.

But I see kids like me during my schools visits. And they write to me.

I'm not going to be complicit in doing to them what was done before.

It's enough
"Here kids: have some books where you're the freak show side character and the main character has to learn to tolerate you. Isn't that inclusive? Don't you feel better?"

No. Not really, no.
"You write about ND kids. Why?"

WHY. NOT?! WHY NOT?

ND kids are awesome! My readers are flipping AWESOME! I'll write them 100 books with ND leads. I'll write a thousand, I don't give a flying fudge. There will always be new things to say because being ND is so full of life!
Don't say you're representing everyone when you're excluding 20% of the population. Just don't.
