I'm currently working on the decrees of the Court of Augmentations in TNA E 321. Here's a short thread of cool stuff I've found. #AugmentingTheAugmentations
Almost all the decrees are signed by Richard Sackville, Chancellor of the court, and Walter Mildmay, Deputy Receiver. [TNA E 321/44/186] #AugmentingTheAugmentations
Some of the decree bundles are arranged in their original order, with original binding. [TNA E 31/45/1-34] #AugmentingTheAugmentations
How do I know it's the original order? Because the original court numbering is on the dorse of each decree. This is item 34 for the regnal year 6 Edw VI [TNA E 321/45/1] #AugmentingTheAugmentations
I know, I know. How do I know that's the original numbering? Because The National Archives also holds the original 16th Century index for the court's decrees. Here's the entry for the above decree. [TNA OBS 1/793] #AugmentingTheAugmentations
Original arrangement, binding, numbering, AND index! Told you it was cool. #AugmentingTheAugmentations
