What is science advocacy? I know when most people think of the word “advocate,” they usually think of lobbyists walking through the halls of Capitol Hill and advocating on behalf of clients over unseen, expensive dinners. However, this is not the case.
An “advocate” is someone who works for a “cause or group,” and as scientists, we work to share our passion for and the value of scientific research.

Examples: @UCSUSA @SfNtweets @AmerChemSociety @aaas
It is crucial to advocate for science because elected officials and the public must understand and appreciate the necessity of biomedical research, which contributes to our nation’s health and welfare and the economic vitality of our communities.
