My tweets these days have focused on events in Jerusalem and Palestine. Some wonder why when I have published mainly on finance, economic anthropology, neoliberalism, and debt. 1/
My family is from Jerusalem for 500 years. They were part of the local fabric of Palestine. Our history is used over and over to justify Zionist colonial projects in Palestine. I write about this recently. Today I say: not in my name. 2/
My great great-grandfather was Chief Rabbi of Palestine. Our family lived in the Old City for hundreds of years in close relations with their Palestinian neighbors and friends. They would be horrified at these ongoing crimes of ethnic cleansing. 3/
As a keeper of that legacy I stand with Palestinians heroically facing down assaults by armed settler mobs and the Israeli state.
Follow and amplify the voices of Palestinians on the ground who are writing on social media where they can what is going on. As ethnographers too this is the least we can do (i lost track of the numbers of tweets)
