Yesterday I had an unfortunate incident where my iPhone and my Apple Watch were stolen @virginactiveSA .

After my workout i made my way to the male change room for a shower like I normally do and proceeded to take my bag out my locker and get undressed.
Yesterday being Sunday it was relatively quiet, I recall greeting a member of the cleaning crew upon entry to the change room,as well as one other regular gym member that I recognise.
I took off my Apple devices and put them into the side pocket of my bag. I have a tendency to leave my gym bag on the ottoman while going to shower (silly me for getting too comfortable in a trusted environment)
Anyway after my shower , i changed up, packed my bag and proceeded to walk out when I realised I didn’t have my phone. Walked back into the change room gave the place a look over.
Nothing.
At that stage I’m thinking , I probably left it upstairs on the last machine I was at so I head upstairs. Nothing. I go downstairs to the info desk to check if anyone brought it to the front desk. Only then did it dawn on me that I didn’t have my wrist watch on either. https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/... draggable="false" alt="🙃" title="Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht" aria-label="Emoji: Auf den Kopf gestelltes Gesicht">
This is when I realise I’ve probably been robbed but I’m still hoping it’s some sort of misunderstanding.

Not at the club I attend regularly with all these familiar faces.
Can’t be.
Still in denial.

Ask the staff. Nothing.
They then proceed to take my details and make mention of the fact that @virginactiveSA has some technical issues which have affected the access control system to the club. I’m aware of this because the club sent out a msg a few days ago. Cool.
I’m not sure if this meant that upon entry to the club, you sanitise, your temp is taken and then u simply proceed in through the open gate? Trusted faces? Unless of course you’re a vitality member that chases points, u fill in the form with your membership number.
The staff then make mention of the fact that they suspect certain people that were in the club not too long before the incident took place and that they would look into it. They make mention of a possible syndicate that’s doing this in the area thanks to the system being down
I then asked about footage and was given an answer about them checking footage and getting back to me with the contact details I provided should there be any developments.
Bear in mind this is one of @virginactiveSA older clubs that pretty much stands alone in a small building complex with no major retailers within it. Most parking is for its members. This complex is also boom gate access controlled.
So these people drove or waltzed in via the parking lot, through the main entrance of the gym, had their temperatures taken, walked into the change room and stole my devices from the side pocket, walked out and left the parking complex? They left the car keys in that same pocket
I was in the shower for all of 5 minutes.

Surely there’s some way we can get SOMETHING here? I’m just wondering? Don’t get me wrong, I’m fully aware of MY responsibility to ensure my goods are in a locker at all times @virginactiveSA

I just wonder.
It’s rather unfortunate this took place in an environment i consider to be relatively safe. But ya lesson learnt.
Feel free to DM for my contact details should you want to do follow ups @virginactiveSA

The incident took place at your Germiston club opposite the lake. I’ve got the CAS number as well should you need it.
