This idea that women are not actually sexual and only participate in sex in order to receive affection is very very new. Right up through the early modern period the conceit was that women were massively horny and were basically DTF before literally anything else.

My argument is that now that we think sex is some sort of nebulous "good" writ large, we have now changed the idea that women are interested in it. Now sex is something women deign to do in order to cling to a man. When sex was seen as bad, women were interested in it.

It will, of course, surprise many men to learn that women are actually people who may or may not be interested in sex at any given time for a range of reasons. Almost like they are better narrators if their experience than some dude with a meme.
