Reminder that quite a lot of disabled people are literally not allowed to have a driving license, not even a provisional driving license.
And that if you develop certain medical conditions, you may be legally required to surrender your driving license, and therefore not have a driving license any more.
I feel like driving licenses shouldn't be considered valid ID in anything not pertaining to operating a vehicle.
An example: Say there's an election a week from now. You have a head injury, and two hours later have a seizure. Legally you are required to notify DVLA and surrender your driving licence. You now have less than a week, while recovering from an injury, to get a passport.
Getting an awful lot of people saying "omg you don't have general ID cards, you should have general ID cards" and hi, Tony Blair, please report to the Hague.

The solution isn't more forms of ID, it's abolishing situations where ID is called for.
Like come on, for the love of god, if your solution to inaccessible voting from voter ID laws is "more ID", I don't know what to say to you.
The alternative suggestion for making voter ID laws fairer is to start a conspiracy theory that driving licenses and passports contain Chinese 5 G chips that make you trans, to balance out the good people who are disenfranchised.
