To have a good Club School Link, you will need to provide:
1.) Good coaching in the club
2.) Good coaching in the school
3.) Good relationship between the club and the school

Step 1: Designate a Club School Link Officer
This person is to liaise with the school/s to put in place a plan.
A Club School Link plan caters for the needs of the Club, and more importantly the School.

Step 2:
Identify the Club School Link Coach
Will it be a volunteer or do we need to pay expenses to someone?
Has this person experience with young children or do we need to up-skill them?
Can the local GDA provide assistance in up-skilling the coach?

Step 3:
Agree a timetable of coaching and activities
Are we doing one 6-week term or longer?
What class groups are we focusing on (Prioritise Infants to 2nd class)
What facilities will be available, indoor, outdoor, Court, pitch?

Step 4:
Equipment check
Do we need to supply additional equipment to the school/s or will the coach have a supply?
Is the equipment age appropriate?
Can it be used in the club, as well as the school?

Step 5:
Begin Schools Coaching
Make sure the content is:
Age appropriate
Fun
Inclusive
Engaging
Games Based
If we can achieve all of these, after a few weeks, we try to recruit the kids to come up to the club.

Step 6:
Ensure we have Best Practice coaching in the club
Ideally, the club school link coach would be at these sessions at the start
He/She to be the link between the school, the kids and the club
Club coaches working to similar template as club school link coach
Ensure we have Best Practice coaching in the club



Step 7: Can there be a cross utilisation of resources and facilities
Do we bring all the schools down to the club regularly for fun Blitzes?
Do we use school hall/astro for club training in winter?
Can we compliment each other and work together?



This is just the tip of the iceberg as regards having a strong Club School Link.
Each club and school needs to develop a unique relationship based on their circumstances.
