🧵THREAD :

When Ole was having a rough patch at Utd, or rather, when he was pulling out 0-0 draws, people wanted him sacked.

There were few names that were thrown in by the outers' bandwagon. Let's reflect upon the call of sacking.
First of all, let's look at the profile of OGS.

• Managed - Man Utd U23, Molde, Cardiff
~~ Currently managing : Man Utd

• Management experience : 13 years and counting

• Job status :
Man Utd U23 - left
Cardiff - voluntarily left/sacked
Molde - left
• Trophies won : 5 (with Molde and man utd U23)

I'm not saying Ole is irreplaceable, but we definitely needed a man-manager like him after Jose. So far, there are plenty signs of progress, there's more to walk than walked, but it's going good at the moment.
Now, for convenience, I've compared these managers purely on the basis of quantitative aspect.
Doing so because I feel putting qualitative aspects (style of play, tactics, etc) almost becomes incomparable and a conclusion can't be drawn.
(1) Pochettino

•Managed - Espanyol, S'hampton, Spurs.
~~Currently managing - PSG

•Management experience : 12 yrs and counting.

• Job status :
Espanyol - sacked
S'hampton - left
Spurs - sacked

•Trophies won : 1 (French Super Cup with PSG on Tuchel's efforts)
Results vs OGS

# 1-0 loss (PL)

- Replacement Rating (RR) : 1/10.

A manager with 12 years of experience struggling to win trophies is not a good sign.
(2) Nagelsmann

• Managed : Hoffenheim
~~ Currently managing : RB Leipzig

• Management experience : 5 years and counting.

• Job status :
Hoffenheim - left
RB Leipzig - leaving this year

• Trophies won : 1 (Hoffenheim Under-19 champions)
Results vs OGS

# 5-0 loss (CL)
# 3-2 win (CL)

- RR : 5/10.

The whole idea of bringing a new Manager at a top club is primarily to bring more experience than the current one. Suitability to PL is also an issue.
Ole has 13 yrs of exp. Not a good replacement expirience-wise.
(3) Hasenhuttl

• Managed : Unterhaching, VfR Aalen, FC Ingolstadt, RB Leipzig.

~~ Currently managing : S'hampton

• Management experience : 14 years and counting.

• Job status
Unterhaching - sacked
Aalen - left
Ingolstadt - left
RB Leipzig - left
• Trophies won : 1 (German 2nd tier champions)

Results vs OGS
# 2-2 (PL)
# 1-1 (PL)
# 3-2 loss [twice] (PL)
# 9-0 loss (PL)

- RR : 3/10

Bagging only 1 trophy in 14 years raises some serious doubts for a club who's looking to get back to glory days.
(4) Allegri

• Managed : multiple clubs
~~ Currently managing : ------

• Management experience : 17 years.

• Job status :
SPAL : left
Grosseto : sacked
Sassuolo : left
Cagilari : sacked
AC Milan : sacked
Juventus : left

** Most sackings were politically biased decisions.
Trophies won : 15 (with various clubs)

Results vs OGS
----

- RR : 7/10

The only reason to rate 7 is the uncertainty of him surviving in the PL and managing a good atmosphere with our squad (also unemployed). There has been concerns with his style of play but that's secondary.
I'm not of the opinion that none of them could've succeeded at Utd. Neither am I stating that Ole is a massive hit at Utd.

But we needed a man who could lift the squad. Instill confidence. Instill a winner's mentality. In my opinion, none of those names shouted were fitting in.
We're in in May, we have EL finals to play, secured CL back-to-back first time since SAF, our PL run has been decent this szn.

I'm not saying sacking him would've been a wrong call. We had moments when his job was doubtful. But, not sacking him has definitely been a right call.
OGS has club at his heart. He's well integrated with the squad. He's worked and fixed many foundational issues.
People looking for instant success couldn't see his 'behind the scenes' work. What's worse, they wanted some weird replacements who could've easily left within years.
