Having observed a desire that has sprung up, the aspirant should put an end to it immediately. It will be absorbed in that very place from which it arose.

If another desire arises, the best means of putting an end to the desire is to shift the attention from the desire to
the underlying spiritual Reality, the creative moment between the 2 desires, known as unmesa.

When one sees a desire having risen, one should immediately end it, so as to be absorbed in the very place from which it arose. A desire can be an urge, or a thought, or a feeling.
Basically, all desires are a form of energy. The verse says that the moment one observes a desire has arisen, one should immediately end or stop it. This energy that has arisen has no choice, but to return to its Source. All energy comes from God. When you suddenly stop a desire,
this energy has to return to God. As it returns to God, it takes you with it.

One will then be absorbed in the very place from which the desire arose. The emphasis is on immediately ending a desire. When you suddenly end a desire, you block it with greater force. That is when
this energy rushes back to its source. When you end a desire, you must remain aware.

That is how you will return with this energy to God. If you end a desire and start thinking again, then the energy of the desire will be changed to the energy of your new thoughts. The energy
then will no longer go back to its source. It will only take on new forms.

Desires not to be resisted–abolished, because it is that point of beginning. It must flow out. That energy, when it flows out, at the point when it flows out–it has not [yet] flown–it begins to flow
and then stop it, at that very moment.
