By continuing with Central Vista, the central government under the leadership of Modi is putting the entire Delhi at the risk of mucormycosis or black fungal infection at the time of Covid-19 when people are vulnerable to catch mucormycosis. Follow the thread (1/6)
Mucormycosis is a serious but rare fungal infection caused by a group of molds called mucormycetes. These fungi live throughout the environment, particularly in soil and in decaying organic matter, such as leaves, compost piles, or rotten wood. (2/6)
Individuals contract this infection by coming in contact with the fungal spores in the environment. If inhaled, the spores can infect the lungs or sinus. Mucormycosis cases have an overall mortality rate of 54% and led to blindness among 20-30% of the infected individuals (3/6)
In the current scenario, the infection is affecting COVID-19 patients with weakened immunity and high blood sugar. COVID-positive individuals with added comorbidities like diabetes, cancer, kidney, heart failure also feature on list of rapidly rising black fungus cases. (4/6)
But with that said, avoiding direct and close contact with soil, dust could lower the chances of developing mucormycosis. Now by digging area in central Delhi in summers when storms and hot wind are usual with Monsoon coming, entire Delhi will be exposed to sand and dust. (5/6)
Storms and wind will take the dust and sand from the central vista site to other parts of the city. So at a time when the environment needs to be clean to save people from Mucormycosis, Modi is making his ‘mahal’ to kill citizens. Labourers will be at higher risks. (6/6(
