Doyoung is the MC for NCT Dream’s press conference for #HotSauce

Haechan’s forehead is covered.

Jeno says he hopes to show you 7Dream’s “refreshing side” with this release. Refreshing like “We Go Up,” he says. aka a summer bop!!
They’re highlighting the b-sides. I really love “Dive Into You.” Jeno says they’re promoting it with the single?? I’m so excited. It’s a song that compares a relationship between two people to the relationship between a whale and the ocean.

Doyoung says “Diggity” is one of his favorites because it shows NCT Dream’s signature energy. He’s right!
“Rocket” has a really fun melody. Another upbeat track. It’s retro pop, really groovy. Renjun says it expresses their aspirations to “leap further into space and make it our stage.”
Chenle keeps singing along to the tracks and he sounds amazing.
“ANL” or “All Night Long” is super catchy too. Mark says it’s one of his favorite tracks on the album.
“Irreplaceable” is a vibe. It’s a love song. It’s one of Haechan’s favorites because of the swing rhythm. “The track has a very wide vocal range so it required a lot of practice,” Haechan says.
“Rainbow” is R&B pop and it sounds so sweet. I love the melodies. Jaemin says the song is special to them, it represents “all seven of us wanting to start a new page together that shines like a beautiful rainbow.”
Jisung says they were really touched while recording “Rainbow.”

Okay so title track HOT SAUCE is a “very meaningful song,” says Mark, because it’s the title track of their first full-length album. It’s hip-hop mixed with Afrobeat and it’s really unique. Mark says it sounds like “casting a spell.” (I’ve heard it—it’s hypnotic.)
We just watched the music video and it’s SO FUN. Very bright and colorful. Happy to report that Haechan’s forehead is OUT and there’s a dance break.
The point choreo is amazing—I’m sure it will be big on TikTok.

Renjun says in the music video the members appear as “models for a hot sauce commercial.” It’s super fun. Very fresh. Soooo NCT Dream.
How do they feel about the 1.7 million pre-orders and setting a new personal record? Mark says they’re really thankful and “determined to do even better.” And Haechan adds, “thank you NCTzens for all of the love and support.”
Jisung says they’re more relaxed now as performers compared to when they first debuted in their young teens. Jeno says they’re “finding new sides” of themselves with every release.
On Mark’s return to Dream: Renjun says “Mark has always been a part of it with us.”
“When it comes to NCT Dream, we’ve matured a lot. And I feel like NCT Dream’s color is much more defined compared to before.” Haechan says they want to show you all of Dream’s colors with this release. There’s a lot of genres on this album. They’re showing their versatility.
Jaemin says they’re “rainbow flavored” — seven different members coming together as one. “that’s what Hot Sauce is.”

Some of the members participated in writing “Rainbow.” Jisung says, “it was easy writing the lyrics because we were writing messages to each other.” Jeno says they didn’t discuss before the four of them started writing — it just all worked out.
Chenle says “Rainbow” is his favorite because he loves the melody and it “contains messages to each other and to our fans.”
Mark doesn’t have any big, lofty goals for this album. “Our main goal is to have a great time, to create great memories too.” Humble king!
(You guys are making my Twitter app glitch but it’s okay!!)
Jeno says “Rainbow” is like “a bookmark that marks the spot after We Go Up. We wanted to keep that energy and chemistry from then.”
Haechan says he’s very sad Dream is not able to meet fans in person because of the current situation but “we’ve prepared a lot to make up for it.”
They’re wrapping up the press con and Mark just says “everyone, clap for NCT Doyoung.”

Okay that’s it for the press con!! My fingers are tired. But also I’m so excited for you all to see the “Hot Sauce” mv. What I admire about NCT Dream is that they’ve matured so naturally without losing their playfulness. Their music is so fresh and bright.
I think sometimes we associate maturity and growth with dark, edgy concepts — and I’m just so thankful NCT Dream is following their own path.
