Whenever I post about the Rohingya, I get these kind of responses. I wanted to address it, because it’s a complete lie. (I also suspect they don’t care about other ethnic minorities, they are just trying shut down conversation about Rohingya)
The truth is, journalists, human rights orgs, Western countries and the UN talk about rights abuses against other ethnic minorities all the time! Nearly every UN statement includes other major ethnic groups.
The EU and the US, do give a lot of aid to helping Rohingya refugees. But they also always gave assistance to other marginalized communities as well
Also, other ethnic minority groups are often the most vocal defenders of the Rohingya and were the first to show solidarity. This from the KPSN back in 2017, when most of Myanmar was supporting the military’s campaign of violence
Finally, the treatment of the Rohingya and the scale of the crisis *is* more extreme than other groups. 20,000+ killed in months. 700,000 displaced. An entire ethnicity denied citizenship. Thrown in jail if they leave Rakhine. Denied access to public education and healthcare
The Rohingya crisis is one of the worst treatments of an ethnic group anywhere in the entire world. That’s why it receives a lot of attention. And we’re not going to stop talking about it.
