For people who don't understand why creatives should be paid more locally, pre the expenses:
The cost for the Adobe apps used to make your flyers and logos. Not to mention other applications other creators use.
Consider the hardware needed to run these and other system intensive programs. A regular 4GB laptop which can only use word and chrome costs on average 50-60k locally. Compare that to the prices of what is required to render images and videos withing reasonable times.
Consider the cost for photographers and videographer equipment (this is literally the surface) (prices in USD)
Consider the cost of local degree programmes. 3-4 years at approximately 300k per annum. Consider the cost of short courses at other institutions like VTI. (forgot to check animation at the top of the list)
Consider electricity costs, Internet costs. Time and energy expended on making changes to fine tune to your requests. And tell me exactly why you would think paying creatives below 100k/mo on payroll is OK? Tell me why you think creatives are charging too much.
I've listed the estimated costs for software, hardware (editing), equipment (capture), and education. Creatives, if I've left anything out, feel free to add. We really need Jamaica to start taking creatives more serious for the amount of work they have to do to eat each day.
Totally forgot to add that hardware and equipment prices are not final. Remember that company called Jamaica customs? Yea.... Creatives basically have to buy all their stuff TWICE just to function properly here
