My headcanon: I think Adam thinks love is this grand thing you're supposed to fall into, have that love at first sight moment and go from there so he doesn't realize that what he has going on with Tadashi is love bc it feels so... normal, bc they've loved each other for so long.

And that would also explain why he mislabels his feelings for Langa as love bc he's the first person to stir any sort of emotion in him in years and that's gotta be love... right? Sure doesn't help that his aunties taught him that love is violence, so his perception is a mess.
