I love seeing before/after transition pictures. But what I see, which some of you readers may not, is how empty the eyes always are in the 'before' pictures and how alive they are in the after.

That, and only that, is why we do this.
It isn't about kink. It isn't about sexuality, or power. It isn't about accessing spaces. It isn't about clothes or attention.

It is just getting to live.
The psychological term for the unbearable half-life trans people exist in is "mirroring".

We mirror back how the world wants us to be, not who we actually are, because otherwise we get in trouble.
Think of it this way.

You see the sky is blue. It looks blue. It's blue, like all the blue things.

But everyone says its red. They mock you, beat you tell you off if you say its blue.

But that doesn't change the fact it is blue to you. It is. It just is.
So by mirroring back what the people around you say, you don't get the punishments. 'Yeah, yeah' you say, 'of course the sky is red'.

But it isn't. Is it?
So you grind through life being what everyone else wants you to be, faking how they want you to react, behaving how they want you to behave.

Everything about you is a copy. A fake. Empty.
You wake up each day, and you feel wrong. The body you are in feels wrong, weird, strange. Your name, your clothes, your friends, your job, the media you consume, your love life... absolutely everything is built on this emty copy of a person.

It isn't you.
You are a zombie, going through the motions, seeing the world through distance, and it is all meaningless.

But then...
...oh, but then...

Hormones start latching to your new cells, activating parts of your DNA, deactivating others. One by one, those cells start to work differently.
Cell by cell, tissue by tissue...
...fat shifts, hair changes, muscles shift. Day by day, the stranger in the mirror, that copy, that fake, starts looking more and more like... well...

You.
As the months pass by, your body rewrites itself, expressing the genes that match that inner self.

You start to breathe, you start to express yourself. You start thinking and feeling emotions properly.

You laugh with your eyes now.
Your clothes change, as you grow bolder and you express more and more of what feela right, feels natural.

Then comes the jump. Strangers refer to you by a different title, as a different gender.

As the RIGHT gender.

It feels like coming alive.

It is.
Because now, people are telling you the sky is blue. And you agree. And you get to shout it out! It's blue! It's blue! The sky is BLUE!

The mirroring stops. You are no longer a copy of a person. You are real. Alive.

It is amazing, and not just life changing but life MAKING
Transition saves lives. Suicides rates drop dramatically because the pain and heaviness, the pointlessness and fakeness goes away.

The only problem now is the opposition you face from an ignorant society. You become a skapegoat, a boogyman, an excuse, a political misdirection.
We can change the body to match the brain. We can transition people to a place they feel fits them. We have the technology to go further too.

But we MUST change society.

That is it. That is all.

Be at peace. Be alive.
And next time you see the before and after, look at the life behind the eyes.
Look into my eyes. There is a person behind them now. And you just know she can kick your ass.
