a ✨thread✨ of what a fatin and toni friendship would look like on and post island (1/20)
at first, toni and fatin don’t know what to think about each other. they are both very apprehensive and wary about getting close to people. so they keep their distance, only interacting when they have to, but that doesn’t mean they don’t notice things about each other (2/20)
they first notice that both of them are unapologetically themselves and unapologetically queer. it’s fatin who would eventually joke that they bonded over being fruity, but in all seriousness, they have much more in common than having queer identities (3/20)
they’re passionate. fiery, though in different ways. but they can also be guarded. reserved and cautious. but when they find someone they cherish (such as martha and shelby for toni and leah and dot for fatin) they’re as loyal as can be, opposite to their biological family (4/20)
but it’s the small things they notice first.

fatin notices toni’s temper, but also something much deeper. so when she asks if toni is an aries, she wants to know more about her. of course it pisses toni off, which fatin finds hilarious. she knows toni is harmless (5/20)
it’s toni who realizes that fatin finds solace in leah. fatin might not express the same emotional outbursts as the others do, but toni watches as fatin aches as she watches leah deteriorate.

it’s after leah runs into the depths of the ocean when toni strikes up a convo (6/20)
toni is aware somewhat that fatin knows about her and shelby, but the fact that she hasn’t said anything to the others is what toni takes to heart. she feels like fatin is watching after them, protecting them almost.

toni wants to do the same with fatin and leah. (7/20)
so toni sits with her in the sand and whispers, “i know what it’s like to feel like you’re watching the person you love fall apart.”

it’s like somehow fatin knows toni is talking about her mom.

“do you think leah will be okay?”

(8/20)
toni shrugs because she refuses to lie to her. “i think that she has the best person looking out for her.”

fatin is shocked because she doesn’t think she and toni have ever had a real conversation.

“is shelby turning you into a sap already?”

(9/20)
toni flicks her and they joke back and forth. banter with them is easy. it comes naturally. when they talk, it’s usually not about something intense. it’s something funny and distracting and something the both of them need.

it’s why they start hanging out a lot. (10/20)
in strange ways, they need each other. they need to make fun of each other and shout dirty jokes and flirt mercilessly and argue all the damn time about nothing in particular. it keeps them sane. it makes everything feel less shitty.

(11/20)
the others are a little shocked by how quickly they get close. especially since half of the time they bicker like crazy. but they provide much needed entertainment for the others, so they soon start to love it. (12/20)
they start massive prank wars. at first, it starts with fatin pranking toni. toni retaliates. then the others join sides. toni, rachel, dot, and leah vs fatin, shelby, martha and nora.

it gets intense but never not funny. (13/20)
they sometimes talk about their relationships because they are very much aware that fatin is in love with leah and toni is in love with shelby. if anything, they make fun of each other for it. who’s more whipped? who’s more of a simp? (14/20)
the bunker fucks them both up like it fucks all of them up. but toni & fatin hurt exponentially, terrified of never seeing their gfs again. when they’re back in the states, free, they admit to each other drunkenly that they both have nightmares of being alone again (15/20)
they keep in touch just like all of them do before they move close to each other. besides shelby, martha, dot and leah, they talk to each other the most. they send each other dirty jokes, old vines, and pictures of leah and shelby. they stay just as close. (16/20)
during group calls before they live close, toni and fatin bicker for half of the call. when they live in the same vicinity, the rest of the unsinkable eight have to deal with their annoying fighting.

they almost love it as much as toni and fatin do.

(17/20)
a lot of strangers actually assume they’re a couple bc they “bicker like an old married couple.” the two of them find it hilarious and pretend all of the time that they are.

leah and shelby don’t find it to be funny. especially when they get drunk & get married. oops (18/20)
they support each other like crazy. with their relationships, with school, with their jobs. they believe in each other. they find their family in each other. almost like annoying siblings or cousins or some shit. (19/20)
truth is, no one really gets them. no one gets how they can bicker and argue like crazy but also make each other feel so loved and supported. they don’t even really understand it themselves. but they don’t have to. they love each other dammit and that’s all that matters (20/20)
