Lots of anti-assimilationist trans fem rhetoric ignores that a big reason trans women seek FFS, bottom surgery, breast augmentation is because of dysphoria. And also no one should have to justify wanting these things, and no one is obligated to look as visibly trans as possible
Being anti-assimilationist is fine. I'm anti-assimilationist. But that doesn't mean telling trans fems to not get the procedures they need. It means putting our needs first, ahead of what cis people would demand of us.
It's true that we shouldn't feel forced to "pass as cis" and yes it's true that surgery is a bloody disgusting mess, but these don't help when the issue isn't passing as cis but being able to recognize yourself in the mirror or not having body parts that cause constant distress.
And all surgery is a bloody mess. Early stage bone cancer is surgically treated by literally scraping the cancerous cells off the bone. IDC that FFS means peeling the skin off my skull because the surgeon *puts it back*. Scare tactics like this should be beneath us.
Plus when you get right down to it, it's actually perfectly fine for trans people to want to pass as cis. None of us should feel coerced to do that but if it's what someone wants, let them be.
For the record I love trans women and trans fems and a lot of the ways many don't pass as cis, and I love that so many of us don't. But I don't want anyone to feel like wanting to do so is counterrevolutionary.
Anyway if you're not working to help insure as many trans people can access the health care they need without having to bankrupt themselves or be wealthy then please do not oppose it either
