I didn’t get this ’til late yesterday, which means I missed the big winds. Today we had light and intermittent breezes, but I was able to get it aloft for 15 - 20 minutes of meditative time.
I missed shots of a hawk and an egret in flight. There was a kettle at one point as well. It& #39;s just too hard to focus on a bird in flight when you don& #39;t have a viewfinder to look in. The birds didn& #39;t seem bothered by the kite, flying pretty nearby.
One nice thing about flying a kite, besides the meditative aspect, is that looking up encourages a posture that& #39;s the opposite of the hunched posture many of us have at the keyboard.
Juglans regia orchards are ones I& #39;d use to teach people about grafting because the difference in bark between the rootstock and scion are so obvious. But when there& #39;s a rootsucker, you can see the differences in leaves as well.
Last season& #39;s walnut hulls and fruit husks, mulched.
