Ok I don't know why I never noticed this before but how come almost every road in every large east coast Australian city is about 10 degrees off from being north-south or east-west?
Multiple people have said that it could be the difference between true north and magnetic north, and I hadn't thought of that... but it also doesn't explain why Perth and Adelaide are different.
Looks like Magnetic North is the explanation, and for spooky reasons it varies in orientation across the country. Fascinating.
