"The world went for thousands of years without understanding the mathematical relationship between a triangle's angles and side lengths.....

.....Today we teach this to grade-schoolers."

Blast, rapsodo, K-vest, flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, RPM's, Axes....
....V-break, H-break, LA, EV, xWOBACON, BABIP, wRC+,

These things are all scary and complicated when you're unfamiliar. Many are also very google-able, or google-able to get started and then just take some hands on tinkering before you're able to use it in real time and produce
tangible results for your players.

One day (in the not too far future) all of these things will be just like Pythagoras' work... easily understood by grade-schoolers.

This is absolutely not an indictment on anyone that doesn't understand them or doesn't know how to apply them.
When I started coaching I didn't know how to use a radar gun. I was embarrassed so I just acted like I did, and then I googled it and found out it was simple, and went on my way as if I'd always known how.

This is how the world works. It doesn't take any special skill. It is...
..however a major part of what it takes to coach hitters at the highest levels. It's as much a part of the game as how you choose to teach the swing, whatever you believe to be the best approach/mentality, etc. It's not negotiable. There's too much information available for free.
If you choose to be in the dark, it's exactly that.. a choice. We make choices every day, & those choices become who we are. If we want to move hitting anywhere we have to choose to improve. As an entire industry, we currently are not.

The incorrect noise matters. It wastes time
The beauty in hitting is it’s simplicity. Hitting is not complicated, its just incredibly difficult

All of the greats are similar enough for us to clearly narrow in on what works. It goes back to a simple choice. The easy way, or the hard way. Stay the same or be better tomorrow
If your knee-jerk reaction is to say, “yeah but we should still teach how to adjust and play the game..” then you are reading this wrong.

Adjusting in the moment and ‘being a hitter’ is what this is all about. New things aren’t meant to replace old things, they are meant to..
..augment the old things and improve upon them.

Just like Pythagoras’ ideas weren’t meant to REPLACE math. They were meant to MAKE IT BETTER, and they did.

New things aren’t here to replace old things. New things are here to add value to important old things.
