"Tomorrow Monday (5/10) is a pivotal day for Jerusalem’s Palestinian and Islamic identity. On this day, “israel” commemorates the anniversary of its occupation of east Jerusalem in 1967, and it shamelessly celebrates by fighting with the people of Jerusalem, https://twitter.com/MetrasWebsite/status/1391413610312867841
restricting their movements, closing their stores, and breaking into the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The most important event of this day is the huge arrival of israeli settlers (over 30,000 total) who stormed the Old City from the Damascus Gate around afternoon time.
Then they continued to walk and dance, swearing at Palestinians and Muslims until they reached a huge celebration at the Western Wall. On this day, settlers repeatedly raided Al-Aqsa Mosque between 7-11am, with the goal of reaching 2000 settlers, while walking around the
Al-Aqsa Compound with heavy security. To secure this chaos and repression against Jerusalemites, the occupation’s police force over 40 young Jerusalemites, most of whom were former political prisoners. It was predictable that the occupation police would close down
Palestinian shops in the Old City, all the streets and alleys leading to the Damascus Gate, attempting to empty out Al-Aqsa and prevent people from entering. Faced with all this, the most prominent weapon in a Jerusalemite’s hand that is able to reverse the inequality is to
gather enmasse and connect at Al-Aqsa and the Damascus Gate. From past experiences, it was apparent that large crowds made “israel” feel that it had a huge security price to pay, forcing it to retreat from its plans and movements."
