"Mother's Day" is what is called a "Hallmark Holiday":

One was "Mother's Day" (Then, Father's Day).
As a mother, I HATE having this holiday forced upon me, instead of just receiving children's love when they choose to express it. It's so contrived.
Think of all the mothers who've

Lost children, & what this does to them.
Think of all the stupid money-spending to make up for guilt.
Not everyone has a good mother.
This is NOT a good holiday, IMHO.
The love & gifts I receive as a mother is enough. I don't need dutiful phone calls & presents & posts.
BTW - I've had a wonderful Mother's Day, but I love the spontaneous love so much more.
