Had my first “real world” crypto use case yesterday. Felt like using the internet for the first time. Magic.
here’s the story
here’s the story

I moved to Costa Rica this past January with my family. YOLO. Ps We love it here.
One of the biggest challenges is buying anything that cost more than what I can pull out in cash at an ATM.
It takes days to move money across borders, and the fees really add up.
Well, a few days ago, I saw a mint 2001 Land Cruiser Prado go up for sale on Facebook Marketplace. For some reason it only had 53,000 miles on it. Could it be true? most of these SUV’s are really worn by now.
I reached out immediately and learned it was owned by a late 20’s girl from San Jose. She works for Citibank. she bought it from a friend, who got it as a gift from his grand father.
Can you believe my luck...the grand father was a rich Costa Rican man who bought the car brand new 21 years ago...and only drove it to church on the weekends, then kept it in the garage.

The owner then sent me a photo of the speedometer to prove it. this thing is a time capsule.
I ask her why she’s selling it. What’s the catch?
She replies...”crypto is the future. It’s not too late. I’m buying crypto instead.”
She replies...”crypto is the future. It’s not too late. I’m buying crypto instead.”
She then asks if I can pay for the car in crypto.
ABSOLUTELY.
ABSOLUTELY.
So I hop on a shuttle the next morning, drive 5 hours to get house, test drive the car, it’s perfect, mint condition. I even have a mechanic look at it too.
He says “this is a very good car, man.”
He says “this is a very good car, man.”
The next day, we close the deal at a lawyer’s office. With the title clean in front of me, I pull out my phone and send her the purchase price to her wallet.
A mere 20 seconds later, the BTC hits her account.
We both yell and high five each other.
The old lawyer looks confused.

I left with a pristine Land Cruiser, perfect for these rough rainy roads.
She left with BTC in her portfolio for the first time.

I found out from her that she had over 100 DMs about the car. It’s because she priced it way below market value.
Why? She wanted to avoid fiat cash, taking it to the bank, high capital gains, government questions.
She was looking for someone to pay in crypto.

TDLR: all around the world, people are waking up to the inefficiencies of money. The crypto story is just getting told. I’m in for it.
