Me when too-online teenagers try to police grown adults out of using the word “queer.”

I’m sorry your understand of queer culture and history is limited to aggressively self-policing micro-communities on social media but your insistence that queer will only ever be a slur doesn’t match uhhhh reality, and no amount of angrily tweeting at your elders will make it so.

You can use whatever terms you are comfortable with to describe yourself.

What you don’t get to do is barge into the big gay house and demand your peers and the people who came before you stop using the terms that already exist and are a source of strength/pride/identity/etc.
