i should clarify that i have adhd and can't speak on autistic experiences. that said, i do get the urge to share my experiences as part of listening, but i find that my conversations & relationships generally improve when i make the effort not to do that
i would love to live in a world where neurodivergent people didn't have to translate themselves to neurotypicals. however, in the world we do live in, i personally find that when i do that translating, it's easier to make people feel heard & cared about
if you decide "fuck it, i'm not going to hold myself back just to make neurotypicals comfortable," more power to you! we all navigate these things differently. but i don't regret my choice
