MEDITATION SCRIPTURE:    ”Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.”…
…(Judg.1:33).

READ:       JUDGES 1:27-33
27 Neither did Manasseh drive out the inhabitants of Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns: but the Canaanites would dwell in that…
…land.

28 And it came to pass, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

29 Neither did Ephraim drive out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer; but the Canaanites dwelt in Gezer among them.
30 Neither did Zebulun drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol; but the Canaanites dwelt among them, and became tributaries.
31 Neither did Asher drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob:

32 But the Asherites dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: for they did not drive them out.
33 Neither did Naphtali drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath; but he dwelt among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land: nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries unto them.
The greatest problem man has ever faced even from the Garden of Eden is that of his quest for independence.
As a free moral agent, man seek to establish his own rules, pave his own ways with the notion that he is intelligent and powerful enough to handle things even when they get out of hand.
From bible and contemporary history, we have witnessed that this notion has never worked and will never work. From the very beginning God’s call for Abraham was a call unto separation (Gen.12:1-3).
When Israel came out of Egypt, God commanded them to destroy the old inhabitants of the land. They were to utterly destroy their idolatrous alters. Marriage with them was prohibited (Ex. 34:13-16). But today, we see the people of Israel adjust the rules and standards.
Rather than destroy the inhabitants of the land, they allowed them to co-habit and turn them into slaves. It sounds good to have fetchers of water and hewer of wood, but the aftermath was terrible.
Very soon we shall begin to see how these nations inter-married with the Israelites, corrupted their faith, and turns them into slaves. You cannot be wiser than God. What God disallows can never work for your uttermost good.
TURNING POINT: You cannot be wiser than God. What God disallows can never work for your uttermost good.

PRAYER POINT: Dear Lord, help me to work with Your approved pattern always.
